Sales Manager – Specialty Chemicals, Industrial Markets
The opportunity
Laborare Group is continuing its long-standing partnership with a global leader in specialty chemicals and advanced materials as we support the appointment of a Sales Manager in the UK.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven specialty chemicals sales professional who enjoys developing new business, building long-term customer relationships and translating technical challenges into commercial solutions.
The role will focus on driving revenue, margin and market growth by selling specialty chemical and advanced material solutions across a broad range of industrial markets.
You do not need to come from one particular end-use sector. What matters is your track record of selling specialty chemicals, materials or technical products to industrial customers, your ability to understand their applications and your appetite for developing profitable business.
The role
You will:
- Own and deliver sales, revenue and margin targets across the UK.
- Identify and develop new customer opportunities across industrial markets.
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified prospects.
- Develop new accounts from initial contact through to first order and an established commercial relationship.
- Grow existing accounts through cross-selling, upselling and increased product penetration.
- Build relationships with technical, procurement, commercial and senior stakeholders.
- Understand customer applications, processes and technical challenges and identify appropriate chemical or material solutions.
- Introduce new products, technologies and solutions into customer formulations and processes.
- Manage the sales process through sampling, trials, qualification and successful commercialisation.
- Work with product managers, technical specialists and global supply partners to develop customer-specific solutions.
- Negotiate commercially to maximise revenue, margin and long-term account value.
- Monitor market developments, competitors and emerging opportunities.
- Take ownership of your territory, sales pipeline and commercial performance.
- Travel regularly across the UK—approximately 50% of the role.

Experience within these particular markets would be advantageous, but it is not essential.
What we’re looking for
We are looking for a target-driven and entrepreneurial sales professional with a proven ability to win new business and grow revenue within industrial markets.
Your experience could come from:
- Specialty chemicals
- Advanced materials
- Industrial chemicals
- Performance materials
- Technical materials
You will also need:
- A proven record of achieving or exceeding sales targets.
- Demonstrable success in new business development and winning new accounts.
- The drive to prospect, create opportunities and close new business.
- Experience managing a B2B sales pipeline and converting leads into commercial opportunities.
- The ability to develop relationships at technical, procurement and senior-management level.
- Strong commercial negotiation and account-management skills.
- The ability to understand customer applications and translate technical requirements into commercial solutions.
- A self-motivated approach and the autonomy to manage your own territory.
- Excellent communication, presentation and relationship-building skills.
- The flexibility and appetite to travel approximately 50% across the UK.
A technical qualification or background in chemistry, materials science, engineering or a related discipline would be advantageous. Both technical-commercial and purely commercial profiles will be considered.
Location and working arrangements
This is a home-based position covering customers across the United Kingdom. Regular UK travel of approximately 50% is required.
