Laborare Group is supporting a growing specialist chemicals business with the appointment of a Product Manager – Pharmaceutical Ingredients covering the UK and Ireland.

This is an opportunity for an experienced, commercially driven professional to take ownership of a portfolio spanning active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), pharmaceutical intermediates and excipients.

The successful candidate will combine an understanding of pharmaceutical ingredient supply chains with strong customer and supplier relationship skills. You will help shape portfolio strategy, identify new opportunities and deliver profitable growth within a dynamic and developing organisation.

As Product Manager, you will take ownership of a defined pharmaceutical ingredients portfolio, working closely with customers, suppliers and internal teams to develop markets and strengthen commercial performance.

You will:

  • Develop and implement product strategies for APIs, intermediates and excipients across the UK and Ireland.
  • Identify new markets, customers, applications and potential additions to the portfolio.
  • Build strong relationships with pharmaceutical manufacturers, formulators, CDMOs and other industry partners.
  • Manage and develop strategic supplier relationships, including identifying new sources and commercial opportunities.
  • Work closely with sales and technical colleagues to develop new business and support existing customers.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, pricing and regulatory developments.
  • Manage product positioning, pricing, margins and overall commercial performance.
  • Support customer projects from initial enquiry through qualification and commercialisation.
  • Develop product propositions and sales tools to support business growth.
  • Attend customer meetings, industry events and relevant pharmaceutical exhibitions.
  • Collaborate across procurement, sales, regulatory, quality and technical functions to deliver excellent customer service.

You will bring a strong understanding of pharmaceutical ingredients together with the commercial judgement and initiative required to develop a strategically important portfolio.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Experience within pharmaceutical ingredients, APIs, intermediates and/or excipients.
  • A degree or higher qualification in pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry or a related discipline.
  • At least three years’ experience in product management, business development or technical sales within the pharmaceutical or chemical industry.
  • An understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing and ingredient supply chains.
  • Strong commercial awareness, including pricing, margins and market development.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • The confidence to work effectively with customers and international suppliers.
  • A proactive, entrepreneurial approach to identifying and developing opportunities.
  • The ability to manage several projects and priorities within a fast-moving environment.
  • A willingness to travel across the UK and Ireland, with occasional international travel when required.
